Zachary Pichler
Licensed Mental Health Counselor -
My name is Zachary Pichler and I’m an independent mental health counselor in Cleveland, Ohio. I work with individuals aged 18-64 who are struggling or need direction in an area of their life. Many of my clients come to me to cope with anxiety, depression, substance use, life changes and concerns related to their gender identity or sexuality. I have specialty training in chemical dependency, problem gambling and issues facing the LGBTQIA+ community.I identify strongly with the queer community and my personal journey to be the person i am today involved a lot of different labels. This lived experience allows me to connect with clients on similar journeys through life.My formal training took an integrated approach to treating mental health concerns, but I find that I use a lot of person centered, motivational interviewing and solution focused interventions. Those three are the main ones that shape my counseling style, but I do have experience and training in the use of other types of interventions. My counseling style is non-judgmental and focused on my client’s experience, not necessarily what I think is going on for them. My approach and style allow us to build an open and genuine connection that gives my clients the space to explore emotions and thoughts freely. When a client starts therapy, I work to understand their past history and how that plays into their current concerns. This helps me to collaborate with my clients on a treatment plan that is tailored to their goals and not something that is copy-paste from a textbook.I received my master of education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Cleveland State University in 2018 after over 700 hours of supervised internship at both an Alcohol/drug treatment center and a counseling center for students at my university. After that, I spent over 3 years working in community mental health before opening my practice in 2021.Outside of session, I’m usually playing video games, playing with my dog or working in my small indoor garden.
