Whitney Hawkins
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist - LMFT
Welcome to the Collaborative Counseling Center. I am so happy you found us.
Are you or someone in your family struggling with a chronic health condition?
I know first hand the affect chronic illness has on a family. Suddenly life revolves around treatment, symptoms, and recovery; relationships suffer and stress skyrockets. When an individual is ill or given a diagnosis, the entire family is impacted during and after treatment.
Using clinically tested and evidence based interventions, I help individuals, couples, and families manage the stress of chronic health conditions more effectively.
I have worked with countless families with a chronically ill child or spouse. I also enjoy helping families in early addiction recovery or couples facing a new diagnosis establish a new normal and improve relationship satisfaction. Additionally, I provide counseling to adult children of alcoholics & dysfunctional families.
With a family systems approach, years of experience in medical family therapy, and a causal therapeutic style, I can help you live a more fulfilling, positive life, despite overwhelming circumstances.
WHAT TO EXPECT IN A SESSION WITH WHITNEY
Pursuing therapy can be overwhelming. I hope I can dispel any fears you have about the process.
Before we meet in person, I like to have a quick phone consult. This allows us to get acquainted, discuss goals for therapy, and other fun things like billing and logistics.
If we decide to pursue therapy, we will schedule an appointment and all paperwork will be sent to your email.
The first few sessions will be spent getting to know one another and setting goals for therapy. Sessions are normally 50 minutes, but this can be adjusted.
Our sessions will be a collaborative process where we discover what is holding you back and what is working for you. You will learn how manage life’s stress more effectively and implement new ways of coping.
Have any other questions? Set up a consult, I’d be happy to answer them.
