My approach to working with clients is relationship-based and I believe that people learn and grow by means of our experiences with and through one another. Rather than focusing on quickly resolving problems, I help clients unearth patterns, skills, and experiences that may help create a different sense of one’s struggles and joys. Once we can shine the light of awareness on an issue in a new way, clients frequently find that they can experience their problems from a different, less constricted perspective.
Over the last 6 years I have worked in a variety of residential and outpatient settings with children, adolescents, and adults. I have post-graduate training in somatic approaches to trauma, expressive arts therapy, and narrative therapy. I have multiple years of experience working in substance abuse treatment and wilderness settings. My approach to working with children (ages 9 and up) combines non-directive and imagination-based modalities that respect a child’s unique strengths and development process.
A healthy therapeutic relationship encourages clients to express things they may currently struggle to give voice to. I am here to reflect back to you what I hear, see, and feel during our time together so that you may begin to recognize yourself differently and be able to make different choices as a result.
