Shauna Zotalis
Marriage and Family Therapist - LMFT
In life, we often do not expect our marriages to sour or fail or for our next marriage to be fraught with conflict with ex-spouses and stepchildren or with your new partner due to jealousy or parenting differences. And yet, here you are feeling stuck, frustrated, divided, sad, and maybe even lonely in a full house, and craving to feel alive, vibrant, and connected again. You can begin to heal and restore hope, harmony, and balance within yourself, your relationships, and your home. As someone who experienced divorce and is a member of multiple blended families, I know intimately the pain and joy and all the feelings in between that come with these hard family transitions. And that is why I started Mended Families, a private practice, in Saint Paul, specializing in providing therapeutic services to individuals, couples, families, and children navigating divorce, separation, remarriage or repartnering, and blended family and “nontraditional” family issues. Through our tailored therapy services, you can begin the process of mending and create a sense of wholeness and cohesiveness within yourself and within your family. With Discernment Counseling, couples who are on the brink of divorce can gain clarity around marital issues and decide on a path forward for the marriage. With Uncoupling Therapy, you can process the difficulties of ending a relationship and thoughtfully disentangle from each other’s lives while paving the path for a cooperative co-parenting relationship, if you have children. And with Pre-Blending Family Therapy, you and your partner can learn and prepare for the challenges blended families face before you blend in order to enhance your success as a stepfamily. Mended Families also offers individual, couples, and family therapy as well as play therapy for children age 6+. Additionally, I am PREPARE/ENRICH certified and am trained in level 1 Brainspotting for trauma processing, Emotionally Focused Therapy and Relational Life Therapy for couples work, yoga and meditation and am able to include mindfulness-based therapeutic approaches in therapy. I offer late afternoon appointments two times a week and have sliding scale spots through Open Path Collective to help make therapy affordable for lower-income individuals and families. Every family looks different and every family deserves support. Call me today to arrange a complementary 15-minute consultation!
