What Does A Therapist Do?
I like to tell my clients to think of me as their proverbial GPS. You tell me where you want to go and I help you get there. Or, if you prefer old school maps, think of me as riding shotgun, holding a map and telling you which exit to get off. It’s not my job to change the destination. I’m just there to show you the way. Or, help you “recalculate” when we miss a turn.
I Want You to Experience Apricity.
I have felt the intense isolation and metaphorical cold that can sneak into life. I know that deep craving to just be implicitly understood. I’ve crafted a therapeutic space where the isolation lessens and you are easily understood. You can experience apricity; that feeling of absorbing the warmth of the sun on a cold day. Therapy is a place for you to feel comfortable enough to allow the genuine truth of your circumstance to be said out loud free of judgment and criticism. It is your place to declare what changes you’d like to have in your life and then have the freedom to pursue those changes with a compassionate and empathic guide.
