Life is full of transitions, both positive and negative: moving away from home, dating and marriage, having a baby, job promotions, becoming an empty nester, retirement. There are also the transitions that no one wants to experience: rejection, infertility, divorce, illness, trauma, career struggles, and loss of loved ones. If the challenges of life are overwhelming – or life is heavy and feels like too much to handle – counseling can help.
I have a master’s degree in mental health counseling with additional training in maternal mental health, including both prenatal and postpartum mood and anxiety struggles. Sometimes even if you have a wonderful support system and are excited to become a parent, you may feel overwhelmed, lost, anxious, or depressed. I also work with adult women who are experiencing anxiety, family of origin issues, depression, spiritual questions, career transitions, and identity crises.
In counseling with me, you can expect to feel heard, supported, and cared for. My approach is based on person-centered and strengths-based counseling theories. This means I aim to help you identify your strengths and values and use those to create positive changes. I will see you as a whole person: biological, emotional, social, and spiritual. I am also trained in brief therapy methods; I believe that change can start to occur early in therapy. If this sounds like a good fit, please reach out to me via phone or email to set up a time to talk further. I look forward to meeting you!
