Sarah Kwan
Licensed Psychologist - NCSP, PhD
Greetings! My name is Sarah Kwan and I am a Licensed Psychologist and Nationally Certified School Psychologist. I know that finding the right therapist may feel overwhelming, which is why I am so grateful I can provide a space where you can be heard, feel supported and talk freely about your unique experiences. Building upon your strengths, we will work on the skills and tools necessary to help you reach your goals.
My Adult Psychotherapy practice is focused on Women’s Mental Health, with an eye towards the multiple, and often competing, roles that we navigate throughout a lifetime. Making sense of personal identity within these roles can often fall by the wayside, impacting both emotional and physical well-being. I treat a number of challenges that women might face, with an emphasis on relationships, reproductive health (including infertility) and career challenges, with a focus on tech. As an ally and guide, I can offer a safe space where we can begin to explore, with gentle curiosity, the patterns and behaviors that make you feel “stuck.”
My Adolescent & Teen Psychotherapy practice is focused on supporting boys and girls, ages 12 – 18, as they strive to meet increasing social, emotional and academic demands. As an adolescent moves through puberty, rapid physiological, sexual, cognitive, and emotional changes take place; thus my work with this age group demands a style of fluidity and flexibility that is profoundly different than that of a child or adult. The goal of therapy is to provide a judgment-free space in which your child can talk about the many important and stressful decisions he or she faces whilst building up the skills and resilience to lead a happy, healthy life.
I incorporate a range of modalities in my practice, and thus do not subscribe to a one-size-fits-all approach. While I draw on a range of insight-oriented interventions, I always practice mindfully and am particularly attuned to the mind-body connection. Based on personal and professional observations, I believe that true insight and healing is best served when an individual feels safe and stable in their own skin.
