My interest in working with mental health began when I returned home from serving in Afghanistan with the Army National Guard. Seeing many of my friends struggle with substance abuse, depression, and PTSD, I made a promise to myself to be in a position where I could effectively assist veterans and others facing challenging circumstances. This commitment drove me to become an addictions counselor and Social Worker – a deeply personal and passionate choice for me.Having already earned a bachelor’s degree in Community Health, I set my sights on becoming a practitioner in the field. Discovering Social Work, the idea of pursuing a Master’s degree and working towards licensure was both daunting and exciting. After a few years of dedication, I achieved my goal and became a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, a feat that required five years of hard work. Over the past decade, I’ve dedicated myself to the mental health and addiction sector. My journey into counseling began during my military service. After gaining experience in inpatient mental health and substance abuse settings, I transitioned to outpatient care. My specialization lies in addictions, although I’ve worked extensively with individuals dealing with depression, anxiety, trauma, and relationship, career, and life challenges. Additionally, I hold a Certified Trauma Therapy Professional credential and possess experience in aiding those with criminal backgrounds. My approach centers on attentive listening, understanding, and collaboration to create a tailored plan for positive change. My priority is to accommodate your unique needs. I aspire to provide support in various forms – whether it’s a listening ear, encouraging words, or formal therapy. Your preferences guide the path we take.Sometimes, people simply seek someone to talk to or a source of positive reinforcement. I’m more than happy to fulfill these roles, striving to be a positive presence for those in need.During my leisure time, I relish moments with my family and pets. I enjoy attending sports events and concerts, finding joy in these experiences.
