Peggy Loo

Licensed Psychologist - PhD

Whatever brings you to therapy, I’d love to meet you and connect! I am a New York State licensed psychologist and am committed to helping you learn, grow, and take actionable steps towards emotional health and resiliency. While I meet with adults in psychotherapy to address a variety of concerns, I specialize in the treatment of anxiety disorders, trauma, and perfectionism. I completed my PhD at Columbia University and possess over ten years of clinical experience. I am currently the founder and director of Manhattan Therapy Collective, a small group private practice of wonderful psychologists and my dog.

In therapy with me, we will work together on your personal goals, whether it is learning new skills to manage overwhelming emotions, processing traumatic experiences that make you feel stuck, or changing unhelpful beliefs about yourself or your relationships. Don’t know what you want to work on? Not a problem – we can figure that out together! I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which is a research-supported therapy approach that emphasizes how we think and cope as the keys to lasting change. Using CBT can help you pinpoint the underlying factors that may be negatively impacting your mental health. By recognizing unhelpful thought patterns or coping, we loosen their undue influence over your mood or behavior – and then we get to work to establishing balanced and healthier patterns so you can learn to live well and thrive.

I am conversational, hands-on, and ready to connect with compassion and humor. My approach is focused, feminist, and multiculturally responsive, which means sessions are in service of your goals, highly collaborative, and respectful of your personal identity and life story. Considering how parts of your unique social identities (e.g., racial, spiritual, ethnocultural) shape your experience of the world (and mental health) is a central part of how I work and how I remain committed to understanding you as a whole person. De-mystifying and de-stigmatizing mental health is also a large part of my style to ensure you are informed and empowered throughout the therapy process. I can provide a brief (15 minute) complimentary phone consultation (212-271-0216) or be reached at drloo@mtcollective.org if you have questions about how I work or my practice. I look forward to connecting!
