(Omolade) Rosalyn Roddy, LCSW
Psychotherapist - Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Certified Batterers Group Facilitator, Certified Anger Management Group Facilitator, Certified Restorative Justice Circle Facilitation (adv.), Certified Parenting Skills Group Facilitation (Nurturing Parenting Model)
I am a licensed clinical social worker (therapist) specializing in critical psychotherapy services. I have 30+ years of experience providing therapeutic clinical services to children, youth, adults, and families. Though I have been providing critical individual, group and couples therapy to children, youth, adults, and families in government and community-based organizations since 1990; I started seeing clients in my private practice in 2015.
My clinical practice provides holistic, strength-based, collaborative, nondiagnostic psychotherapy that focuses on building resilience, empowerment and addressing issues related to shame. The cornerstone of my practice is addressing embedded issues of loss, shame, the vulnerability that impacts identity & how race, class, gender & socio/cultural conditions impact one’s day-to-day functioning. Integrative, relational and cognitive behavioral therapies (CBT), psychoeducation & ritual are some of the modalities used to bring insight & transformation to those I serve.
Not everyone seeking therapy has a mental illness or disorder. Some struggle with life stressors, transitions & only needs to discuss their thoughts & feelings with a professional. Often the use of psychiatric diagnoses can impose stigmatized & standardized beliefs regarding mental & cognitive differences onto those persons and families impacted most.
This is one of the reasons that I do not accept insurance or file insurance claims. This allows me to draw upon the strength-based, non-diagnostic clinical approaches that move beyond the symptom management focus that diagnostic paradigms encourage.
I enjoy working with people of all ages, backgrounds, orientations, and ethnicities.
I am honored to have had the opportunities which have contributed to the success of my practice by shaping and refined my skills through my community and public service work – serving persons impacted by harm within Educational, Criminal Justice, Fostercare,
Military & other systems.
