Nkem Kelly
Marriage & Family Therapist, and Licensed Professional Counselor -
Do you have a good imagination? Good. Imagine for a minute everything that occupies your mind daily like work/life balance, bills, school, relationships, friendships, child/ren, social life or lack of social life, personal time, etc, as a rock. Now, picture yourself going about your daily activities with all these rocks in your back pack, purse, briefcase etc. Can you see it in your minds eye? Where do you feel the weight? How does it feel? May I invite you to place them down gently and take a deep breath and exhale? Going to therapy is a safe place where you can talk about the different ways to “lighten the load” of everyday living. My name is Nkem (pronounced in/kem) Kelly; thank you for seeking mental healthcare services. Everyone has a unique story and I believe in creating a safe space for each story to not only told, but be also to be heard in a judgment free zone. I also believe in “meeting clients where they are”, and partnering with them to work on whatever is beneficial to their holistic well being and bring about positive changes in their daily living. I am a compassionate therapist experienced in working with people at their own pace to work on issues that may affect their everyday living. My therapeutic style is to work collaboratively with my clients to empower them to cultivate internal strengths, identify healthy support systems, identify existing and new skills, and building resources to bring about the changes they desire.
Steve Maraboli describes life succinctly in his quote, “Life doesn’t get easier or more forgiving, we get stronger and more resilient.” Thank you, and I look forward to working with you.
