Monroe Spivey
Psychotherapist & Life Coach - LCMHC
It’s my belief and experience that among all of our deepest desires is the longing to be fully seen, validated, and loved, when all the masks are taken away – for who we truly and authentically are. I view the role of therapist or life coach as the mirror that reflects the light within. In our darkest hours, it can be difficult to see ourselves clearly, to find the path hidden in the seemingly impenetrable forest of grief, despair, anger, or loneliness.
My practice is largely somatic, nature-based, and mindfulness informed. In my experience, all trauma lives in the body. By reacquainting ourselves with the body’s inherent wisdom, we can give ourselves permission to heal. Similarly, since the beginning of human history, people have ventured into wild places to find healing. When desired, I offer the integration of the natural world in the healing practice, whether this means sitting under a tree for a session, or hitting the trails. Finally, I integrate a present moment focus into my practice. In our fast paced world, it can be difficult to attune to that still yet strong inner voice within – yet more often than not, our own wisdom is there, waiting to reveal itself!
