Michael Shawe
Clinical Social Worker/Therapist -
I bring years of integrative training both in the measurable sciences and the fluidity of the arts. I studied the origins of resilience and how it develops into adulthood. Simultaneously, I trained how to use mindfulness practices in daily life to build the trust necessary to take bold steps. Often there was an imbalance that was partially in the mind while also deeply physically rooted. People often tell me about feeling lost or stuck, in part because they have lost connection to their bodies. I spent years studying a variety of disciplines which led me to understand how the physical body holds stories and memories. Meisner acting training, gymnastics, ballroom dance, partner acrobatics, Thai massage, Olympic weightlifting all shared a common theme that in order to succeed one has to first listen to what the body is truly saying and then trust the body’s wisdom throughout the healing process. From this place of integrative knowledge, my clients begin to truly expand and heal as we simultaneously heal both the mind and the body. The body which has been so neglected in traditional therapy practices. Through this full acknowledgement, people have seen profound and rapid growth.
