Melissa Smith
Licensed Mental Health Counselor - LMHC
Moms can feel overwhelmed by intense emotions, racing thoughts, self-criticism, disconnection, and chronic stress. Do you keep repeating the same patterns, hoping something will change? Imagine if you disrupted these patterns and felt less stress and more joy. Though it requires work and self-reflection, we can learn self-compassion, understanding, and new ways of being in the world. It helps to work with a therapist who understands your journey and relates to your challenges. Therapy can provide a space to cry, grieve, be angry, or ask questions.
I combine somatic and cognitive therapies to increase self-awareness and help you respond differently to distressing emotions, sensations, or thoughts. This includes working with your nervous system to regulate anxiety, anger, trauma symptoms, and depression. I will help you understand your unique system and create more emotional resilience and flexibility.
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, practicing since 2012 and independently licensed since 2014. I am certified in Integrative Somatic Trauma Therapy, which uses approaches designed to regulate the nervous system, deepen understanding of the self, process and heal from trauma and chronic stress, and address unhelpful patterns of thinking.
I am available online only at this time.
