Melanie Harrison
Psychotherapist -
I have over 15 years’ experience working with individuals and groups in community mental health. As your therapist, I will suggest the most helpful areas to focus your energy on first. Your treatment plan will reflect your larger goals broken down into achievable objectives and tasks. I typically give homework in the form of completing worksheets or working on a goal of your choice between sessions. I’ve learned that the sense of accomplishment people feel from achieving goals helps them stay motivated.
I am an active participant in therapy. I am an active listener and will ask questions, challenge assumptions and believe in you. My role is to guide, teach skills and provide helpful feedback. Your role is to show up, participate, tell me what isn’t working for you and what you find helpful.
A bit about me. I was born and raised in Atlanta, GA. I am the first college graduate in my family. My life journey has taken me through Illinois, Madison, and Milwaukee, WI. I settled down in Minneapolis in 2005. I live with my spouse, daughter, mother-in-law and three cats. My favorite season is fall, I enjoy a good pun, and my magical ability is I can drink coffee any time of day and still sleep. 🙂
