Are you feeling overwhelmed? Perhaps you don’t feel yourself and are struggling with feelings of dread or depression? Maybe you are fighting more than usual with a partner or not communicating at all. Feeling out of sorts, is not only common, but natural with everything going on today. After a while, it’s not terribly helpful. People have innate strength to endure life’s challenges, even the ones we face today. I can help you discover yours. I am committed to helping you navigate your daily challenges and reclaim this strength. My approach is practical and results oriented.
Though my practice is currently online, I use proven techniques to help you find inner calm and coping skills. These techniques target the “emotion control” center of your brain, the amygdala, to provide physical relief from the distress of anxiety. I also use Schema therapy to target entrenched core beliefs, often stemming from childhood, that can operate subconciously to fuel self-defeating and depressing thoughts.
Even today with everything that is going on around us, I can guide you through the process of adapting to change and maintaining stability. Using evidence-based treatments that desensitize disturbing images and curb runaway thoughts, I can help you heal from traumatic experience and rebuild a sense of self that is free of pervasive shame, fear, and anxiety.
I have training and certification in a number of scientifically based treatments that include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (A.R.T.), which uses voluntary image replacement and eye-movement therapy that targets the disturbing images and strong emotions that often accompany trauma and can result in stress, anxiety and depression. Using approaches such as EMDR, Accelerated Resolution Therapy, I help clients with stress, anxiety, PTSD and addiction reconnect to life.
