Meg McLaughlin
Licensed Mental Health Counselor - LMHC
My goal in working with people is to help them find ways of living fulfilling, productive, and rewarding lives. I work collaboratively with people to find ways of living that fit more with their beliefs and values. From a Narrative Therapy foundation, I explore with clients the effects of the challenges/problems in their lives and consider ways in which the challenges/problems have not dictated their lives—thus uncovering perhaps hidden or obscured skills and strengths. I also offer information from neuroscience indicating the plasticity of the brain as evidence that people can change and create more preferred lives. For those who are interested, we will co-research mindfulness practices and/or cognitive-behavioral techniques.I believe that most people experience times in their lives when having a skilled, helpful therapist with whom to reflect may not only be beneficial, but may also be life altering. I also believe that many people carry wounds and/or brain chemistry that interfere with their satisfaction in life and who also would benefit enormously from having a trusting relationship with a skilled, helpful therapist.
