Matthew Parkinson
Psychotherapist - LPC
I offer mindfulness-based therapy with specializations in men’s issues, depression management, anxiety management, and personal growth. Through this work in therapy, you can be kinder to yourself, which will help you in relating to others. You will notice that you are able to be more present, more intentional, and have more confidence in approaching your goals.
Mindfulness-based therapy often starts with a few minutes of guided meditation to settle in to yourself, mind and body. From there, our therapy work can untangle self-criticism and automatic negative thoughts, allowing you to relate to yourself in a kinder and gentler way.
The foundation of mindfulness is being aware and present. For your thoughts, this just means being aware of what is happening. If your mind is busy, mindfulness just means noticing this. By opening this space, we can begin the work of relating to this inner critic, and untangling this knot.
