Mary Stout Hess
Resident in Counseling -
I believe in meeting clients where they are, whether seeking support for the first time or seeking a new action plan. I am a compassionate therapist who will actively listen and fully understand each individual’s current concerns and aspirations to provide genuine feedback and skills to modify behaviors. I use a collaborative, strength-based approach tailored to each client’s needs.
Furthermore, I work with people experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, difficulties in love and family relationships, low self-esteem, unhealthy coping behaviors, and grief and loss. I assist clients in navigating various life transitions.
Through our work, my goal is to make my clients feel encouraged, empowered and understood. I want my clients to believe that we can work together to improve their lives and that they can accomplish the goals they set for themselves, and I want them to have confidence in their abilities to do so. In addition to teaching family-centered, strengths-based therapies, my educational background strongly emphasizes fairness, diversity, and inclusion. As a counseling professional, I intend to empower and advocate for individuals through an ethical, culturally sensitive, and competent approach.
