I am a passionate advocate for supporting people through the process of change and discovery, with a focus on nutrition and stress management. My knowledge of nutrition, the psychology of behavioral change, and medical complications from chronic stress provides guidance for individuals who wish to get better by targeting the root causes of stress. I am a firm believer that a healthy lifestyle and balanced diet combined with mindfulness practices and a positive sense of self is best for your body as a form of natural medicine.I earned two Masters of Science degrees from nationally acclaimed Bastyr University, and am licensed as a Certified Nutritionist, specializing in disordered eating and am a trained meditator with an active yoga and mindfulness practice. As an Instructor at Arizona State University’s School of Social Work, I teach mindfulness based stress management interventions, sustainable living, and mindful eating through the Integrated Health Initiatives Program. My book, Sustainable Living & Mindful Eating, (2015, Kendall Hunt, publisher) is currently available for purchase.I am a whole foods nutritionist and a trained mental health counselor. As a Mindfulness Consultant, my company Mindful Benefits designs mindfulness-based sustainable interventions for individuals and employers with smart, measurable results. I am an advocate of measuring what matters. Prior to my clinical training, I held executive positions with a large health care system and was directly responsible for the health and well being of 50,000 employees. Other corporate experience includes several years as a director of Weight Watchers International, where my innovative approach to change ignited the success of thousands of people over fourteen years.My specialty and passion is for traumatic grief and loss counseling, and I have been certified through the Center for Loss and Trauma as a Compassionate Bereavement Provider.
