Sometimes it feels like few can relate to what we’re going through. “Just stop thinking about it,” while well-intentioned, often invalidates a valiant attempt at gaining support. If only it were really that easy to be rid of the anxiety, fear, shame, moodiness, self-doubt, flashbacks, and so on, caused by life events that didn’t go quite right. I recognize that it can be frustrating to feel unheard and misunderstood; it may even lead to thinking that you’re the only one experiencing this.
