Lisa Baker
Psychologist - PhD
HI, I’M DR. LISA K. BAKER
I’m a licensed clinical psychologist, but you might also call me a caregiver for caregivers, a self-care whisperer, or even just a safe place to land on a heavy day.
I help people who are used to being the “strong one,” who find themselves taking care of everyone else, but are finding themselves overwhelmed and needing to turn some of the attention they lavish on others on themselves. I teach specific skills and techniques for self-care, self-compassion, assertiveness, communication, and basically whatever it takes to rewire the voices that play in your head that keep you feeling overwhelmed. It’s equally important for your feelings to have a safe place, where you can experience being your whole self, so you can address any grief, pain, fear, and whatever else the emotional roller coaster throws at you, so that you can find more of the joy, and not feel like you’re running on fumes.
I’ve been there. I know what it’s like to feel alone in your struggle, to be burned to the bottom of your reserves, but to feel like you have to keep going, that there is no other choice…and because you love the people you care for so much, you wouldn’t make another choice. But it doesn’t mean this isn’t hard, and sometimes downright impossible. I see you, what you’re really going through, what you’re giving, and what it’s costing you.
I can offer a way through.
My clients appreciate that I bring my whole heart to my work. They know that I get it, that I do my best to put myself in their shoes, and to come alongside them and help them find their way. They know nothing is off-limits, no thought or feeling will be judged, that this is a safe place to get it all out.
I believe that cared for caregivers, armed with skills and knowledge and with their emotional tanks full, can turn their experience on its head.
