Kimberly Diggles
LMFT
When we are in the midst of crisis we can question our abilities to overcome. Like quicksand, these self-defeating thoughts pull us even deeper into despair and we may become seduced by seclusion. Instead, I believe we should strive to accept our struggles as the catalysts that can bring us into closer connection with others and thus be more empowered to overcome. My practice of therapy involves helping people realize that to struggle is not unique and that connections with others during those times can be the difference between surrendering to weakness and reclaiming your strength.
My specialties include: Multicultural therapy, working with children/teens (and their parents); supporting medically stable teenagers and adults managing eating disorders; family therapy to resolve issues that can present in divorced/blended families; therapy for couples facing transition (i.e.: marriage, family planning) or seeking to reinvigorate their relationship; and Trauma-focused therapy.
As an African American woman, I also embrace the role that culture and gender play in creating our struggles, as well as manifesting our resiliency. My therapeutic approach avoids the idea that there is a “right” way to look at things; I often challenge my clients to do the same when they are “stuck.” I look forward to hearing your unique story.
