Education and ExperienceI possess a PhD in Christian counseling from Faith Bible College and a Master of Science degree in mental health counseling from Capella University as well as Organizational development Psychology and Behavior from Avila University.I have over 5 years working as a Christian Counselor at Paseo Baptist Church. Dr. Britton’s internship was completed under the supervision of Dr. Pamela S. Taylor at New Hope Counseling Center. I work as a Mental Health Counselor at Dawning of a new day counseling center LLC. I am currently working toward her PhD in Counseling Education and Supervision.I possess more than 10 years of government service, where I worked in Leadership and Training and Organizational Development.I am an avid writer and have published 3 books of poetry; Romantic Interlude, Psalms of the Soul and Expressions of the Spirit. Kimberly written a total of four stage plays; “The watchman’s burden, Because he lives, Mr. potter and the adopted clay, and “Broken walls” as well as a spec script for a screenplay “When Satan reigns: Hell on Hollis Drive”.Through my writings I aspire to give a voice to those who cannot find an avenue of personal expression, realizing that the role of the writer is not to say what we can all say, but what we are all too often unable to say.As a therapist I will advocate on behalf of those who are underprivileged and the disenfranchised in Dr. Britton has assisted individuals recovering from divorce and abuse situations, to persons suffering from eating disorder and schizophrenia.PhilosophyMy personal experience with counseling is that one must first be aware and conscious of their concerns, issues and situations before change can occur in order for change to occur one must be willing to undergo self exploration in order to become fully self aware. Then the knowledge of actualization can take place that will assist with the implementation of modification.A person’s mood can be impacted by their environment, hereditary factors, genetics, and/or cultural norms. Mood disorders can determine how one interacts and engages others in the” Here and Now”. For this reason we may avoid emotions and varying moods because we are afraid to deal with the emotions displayed and their impacts to others. I enjoy getting to the root cause of issues and helping with recovery of broken relationships, broken hearts, those in despair, individuals dealing with sadness, depression, anxiety, excessive worry, OCD and the like. I enjoy assisting children who have Autism, ADHD, learning disorders etc. My passion is for the battered woman. My appeal is to the sense of urgency the situation calls for due to the emotional upheaval and unrest often caused by the impact of the abusive events (be it mental, emotional or physical; abuse is abuse). Let’s talk about it, I am willing to help.Licensure type: PLPC,LPC,(Ks), Supervisor, Michael T.
