Sessions are available by online secure video anywhere in North Carolina. I see counseling as a practice of assisted self-discovery. Awareness of the present moment, attention to emotions and sensations in the body, and mindful witnessing of thoughts are at the heart of my practice. My approach is compassionate and non-judgmental, and I provide a safe space for you to turn toward your experience. A whole body-mind approach is much more effective than talk therapy alone.
I draw from somatic, humanistic, and existential theories to orient our work, and utilize a variety of techniques including Mindfulness-Based Interventions, Hakomi, Somatic Psychotherapy, Contemplative Psychotherapy, Person-Centered (Rogerian) Therapy, Gestalt Therapy, Existential Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
Education: Master’s Degree in Counseling, National Certified Counselor with the NBCC, 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training, Authentic Relating Facilitator, Hakomi Training with the Seattle Hakomi Education Network, Internal Family Systems with Everett Considine, Over 15 years of experience with Solsara & Heart of Now, Deep Dive Circling Intensive with The Circling Institute, Radical Aliveness with Ann Bradney, Workshops with Sarah Peyton and Bonnie Badenoch, Shambhala Heart of Warriorship, Training in Vipassana and Zen Meditation, and Extensive World Travel.
