Karin Draper
Marriage & Family Therapist - LMFT
Many people seek counseling because something in their life is not quite right. You might know exactly this is – depression, anxiety, a strained relationship, a past trauma. Perhaps you are the person that others generally rely on and seek help from; you give to others freely but are often running on “low.” Perhaps you find yourself repeating the same relationship patterns that ultimately leave you feeling alone, disconnected, and frustrated. Perhaps you are in the midst of delving into past traumas and hurts, and each day feels overwhelming and burdened with difficult memories and emotions. Or perhaps you just know that something is off, that you could be happier or more fulfilled than you are currently.
I work with each of my clients to get to the roots of their struggles and then explore new solutions, new perspectives, and new ways of being.I am passionate about working with adults and couples in the first 10 years of their relationship who are struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, life adjustment issues, relationship problems, family of origin concerns, and personal growth. I especially enjoy working with those who have been impacted by a loved one’s addiction, as well as with other “healers” who seek to maintain their own health while helping others.
I practice EMDR, which has an incredible success rate in alleviating many mental health symptoms — but particularly those for PTSD and anxiety — in a much quicker fashion than talk therapy. There is so much hope for clearing out those painful beliefs, thoughts, and symptoms that may currently feel untouchable! Together, we can move toward healing, relief, and much fuller living.
