Kara Mycek
Dance/Movement Psychotherapist - BC-DMT, LCAT
Are you seeking a supportive space to deepen your understanding of self, make change, or feel increased overall wellness? I strive to create a warm, safe, and collaborative atmosphere where my clients work to explore and share their emotional experience while connecting to and deepening the mind-body connection. I believe in a holistic, humanistic approach that utilizes the creative process in the therapeutic relationship. I have experience working with diverse populations in community mental health, adult inpatient acute psychiatric care, adolescent day treatment, adult social day programs, public middle school, early intervention preschool and nursing home settings.
I work with children, young adults, adults, and families. It is imperative to focus on the unique needs of each individual, while honoring the pace and process required. I truly believe that change is possible and the possibility of attaining the healthiest, happiest life you that you deserve and desire.
Dance/Movement Therapy (DMT), as defined by the American Dance Therapy Association, is “the psychotherapeutic use of movement as a process which furthers the emotional, social, cognitive, and physical integration of the individual.”(www.adta.org).
