Kambria Kennedy-Dominguez
Licensed Mental Health Counselor - LPC, LCDC
I enjoy helping clients acknowledge their strengths while also helping them identify areas where change is helpful. I work with clients at their own pace, and collaborate to identify goals for the counseling process. I’ve found that some clients tend to want very specific goals outlined for the therapeutic process, while others want more of a spontaneous, in-the-moment, experience in therapy. I can work either way, and tend to leave the content of what we discuss in session up to the client.Throughout my career, I’ve worked with clients from many diverse backgrounds, including those who’ve experienced poverty, illness, homelessness, mental health problems, addiction, psychosis, and trauma. I use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to help clients gain acceptance of suffering around the things that they cannot change. I also use mindfulness and yoga when clients want to learn new skills to help them cope with stress and anxiety.I use the following guiding principles in therapy: that positive change is possible and within reach; that therapy can help facilitate this change; that the therapeutic relationship is the most powerful tool in the therapy room; and that an active physical body cultivates a healthier mind.
