Kaila Dickstein

Psychologist -

Every client and therapist pairing is different. Not every pairing will fit as well as others and the goal of every therapeutic relationship is for the therapist to act as a competent and supportive guide in navigating each client’s map of unique challenges in life. I believe that the most important aspect of the relationship is the ability to be honest about the process–what works will differ for everyone. I aim to tailor treatment to each client so that he or she leaves the office feeling heard, understood and confident about the therapeutic journey. My job, as your therapist is to make sure you feel comfortable enough to walk through the therapeutic process together.  And if you don’t,  I’ll happily point you in the direction of a better fit.  As we know, despite the current pandemic and the stay-at-home orders throughout our nation, no one exists in a bubble.  And what a lonely place it would be if they did! The goal of therapy is to gain some insight into our choices so that we can learn from and improve upon them in the future.  As your sounding board, I act as a guide to help uncover different paths and perspectives, but as the client, you are the one steering the ship.  I see my job as helping you identify and avoid pitfalls in the process.  I happily work with clients on their own, in couples or as a family to identify and iron out issues that come up as we work to find contentment and meaning in this sometimes rocky world.  Especially now, connection to others and understanding will make this process smoother and hopefully, you’ll achieve some of your goals along with way.
