Bloom Counseling is here to provide individual counseling, for girls and women experiencing mental health stress related to unresolved trauma, fear, depression, anxiety, anger, grief, physical pain and chronic health issues. Let me help you learn to release old wounds and patterns, planting seeds that allow you to re-connect to your inner wisdom and grow.|It’s time for you to Bloom. Unfold. Revive.Everyone undergoes events that can be traumatic. When a traumatic experience is not fully resolved or integrated in the body, part of the person’s experience can get stuck there; specifically, in the nervous system. Severe traumas such as military PTSD and serious accidents are well-known examples. But even the most fortunate of people have had traumatic times. Problems in childbirth, illness or injury, parental neglect due to substance abuse or mental illness, and parental divorce are examples of traumatic events for children. Later in life, accidents, surgical procedures, loss of job, loss of relationship, or death of loved ones can all be experienced as traumatic. When we have unresolved trauma or accumulated stress, our nervous system tends to become dysregulated. The autonomic nervous system (ANS) automatically regulates heart rate, digestion, respiration rate, salivation, perspiration, diameter of the pupils, micturition (urination), and sexual arousal, among others. It’s job is to assure our survival under all of the conditions we may find ourselves in. Somatic therapy is a ‘bottom up’ approach to the resolution of post-traumatic stress conditions. It works in the ‘here and now’ and focuses on the bodily felt sense and how to release trauma in the body and regulate the nervous system. You may feel like your symptoms are the new normal. Feeling overwhelmed, unlovable, and disengaged, having strong emotions like fear, depression, anxiety, anger, grief, irritability, and having physical pain or chronic health issues. Maybe you feel unheard, de-valued and dismissed. Generational and institutional patterns can make it hard to navigate relationships and you feel stuck. You’re avoiding things when you’d like to be thriving. Many of us do not have a specific “event” or “issue” but just know that something is “off” in their body or relationships. Maybe you find yourself drooping and collapsing: watching too much TV, drinking more, or not attending social functions. You might feel hyper-vigilant and anxious a lot, and your usual self-help go-tos are no longer working. You’d like to talk to someone trustworthy, get some ideas, return to your center, and find some balance. You’re wanting to get in touch with your real feelings, because they sometimes seem so far away. Cultivating hope, joy and happiness are important to you. You’d like to flourish.
