Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor -
Have you suffered trauma(s) from religious systems, people, churches, or family members? Religious trauma is real & leaves a lasting mark. I help people find hope when all they see is darkness and despair and especially enjoy helping people who have suffered religious trauma. As we identify harmful narratives in your life, we will work towards finding hope, & creating healthy narratives that lead to new meaning and purpose, a letting go of shame, & a strengthened sense of self.
I believe that you are not the problem, but that the problem is the problem. In other words, our problems do not define us. I believe that we have relationships with our problems and that they employ strategies in their attempts to hold power in our lives. Our problems hold power because of how we have interpreted the events (stories) of our lives. Think back to stories we were told as kids. Many of them ended with that famous refrain, “the moral of the story is….” I believe we do the same thing to the events of our lives. These interpretations form the basis of how we see ourselves, others, and the world.
I believe that hope is key in order for us as human beings to make it through each day. When you do not have hope, I will hold onto it for you. I believe that you are inherently resourceful and the expert in your life. I will focus on your strengths when discussing problems. You have the ability to overcome problems and write a more fulfilling story for your future.
