John Davis is a Florida Licensed Mental Health Counselor practicing a blended approach known as “Brief Psychodynamic Psychotherapy”. John has also trained extensively in the experiential techniques of Psychodrama with Drs Dale Buchanan and Antonina Garcia. John is an approved provider for LDS Family Services in Florida, providing marriage and family counseling to members of the Mormon faith.John is a graduate of The University of Georgia at Athens, obtaining his Master’s Degree from The University of West Georgia at Carrolton. John specializes in an eclectic mix of therapies, including Gestalt, Psychodrama, Cognitive Behavioral and Acceptance Commitment Therapy as well as a variety of hypnosis-based methods, including EMDR, trance induction and guided imagery. John is a certified EMDR practitioner working with a broad spectrum of clients, guided by the groundbreaking EMDR work of Dr Francine Shapiro and Dr Bessel Van der Kolk, MD. A lifelong student of Buddhist psychology, meditation and yoga, John incorporates mindfulness-based practices into all that he does. John is an approved Open Path Therapist, signifying membership in an organization dedicated to helping as many people receive affordable therapy as possible. Open Path is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, working in conjunction with the Foundation for Excellence in Mental Health Care.John is an “action oriented” therapist, seeking sustained behavioral change as well as “changes of mind and heart”. His approach is to provide support and action-able feedback to help clients heal their suffering, solve current problems and shift long-standing patterns of ineffectiveness.
