Jennifer Loken
Psychotherapist - LICSW, LICSW-C, LCSW
Many of us have had experiences, big and small, that have impacted us in powerful and unexpected ways and, for so many reasons, we haven’t had the time or space to heal from them. Often symptoms of anxiety and depression develop from our attempts to adapt to life experiences, especially those that happen early in our lives. I believe that when we develop insight into our symptoms, we are then able to change them and find new ways of getting our needs met. This is where therapy can help.
In therapy, I work with to create a supportive space for you to explore and express your thoughts and feelings, even those you may not have realized were there. We will explore how you got to where you are today, identify patterns, build on strengths, and find ways to heal emotional wounds.
Therapy is a vulnerable experience. People of all backgrounds should be able to get the help they need without fear of microaggressions or further oppression by the therapist. I strive to help people of all gender identities, sexual orientations, races, and body size feel respected and safer with me: I am committed to integrating an understanding of how intersecting forms of oppression contribute to an individual’s experience. Through ongoing education, peer supervision, and cultural humility, I will do my best to understand and validate your experience.
