Jane Armstrong
Licensed Clinical Social Worker - LCSW
If you have ended a wanted pregnancy (also known as termination for medical reasons or TFMR), you are a loving parent deserving of compassion, healing, & community. Whether due to your own health &/or the health of your baby/ies, yours is a complex & unique situation ending in the devastating loss of a much loved baby & desired future. TFMR parents often feel similar grief, pain & silencing that other loss parents do, as well as additional layers of shame, fear, & judgment (particularly in states like Texas). As a TFMR mom myself, I am passionate about building community, eliminating shame, & honoring grief for all TFMR families.
Alongside my work with TFMR parents, I am also passionate about working with:
– other forms of pregnancy & infant loss, including but not limited to stillbirth, miscarriage, & ectopic pregnancy;
– perinatal mood & anxiety disorders, such as postpartum depression & anxiety;
– infertility;
– trying to conceive, pregnancy, & parenting after loss.
Whether in individual therapy or as part of one of my support groups, you do not have to go through this alone. Our work together can provide a dedicated time & place to authentically share your experience without the fear of burdening those closest to you, to express & process your emotions, & to redefine your identity, priorities, & relationships. You will learn & practice strategies for managing triggers & calming your mind & body when feeling overwhelmed. And over time, we will address together the ways your experience shows up in different stages of your life moving forward, such as as trying to conceive, choosing to no longer try to conceive, infertility, pregnancy, &/or parenting after loss.
