Jacqueline Burnett-Brown
Marriage & Family Therapist -
Hello! I am Dr. Jacqueline Burnett-Brown. I am a clinical resident for a small not-for-profit counseling center. I have recently completed my clinical internship in marriage and family therapy with CHRIS 180, the Dekalb location, which was formerly Care and Counseling of Georgia. I am currently under AAMFT approved supervision while I work to complete my residency hours in order to sit for the NMFT licensure exam.I am a former high school teacher – with certification in several content areas as well as special education, expertise with persons on the autism spectrum – to include adults. I am a diversity and inclusion practitioner – I teach this to online and in-person groups, and I am also a Georgia Office of Dispute Resolution registered domestic and juvenile mediator. I hope to obtain credentials in domestic violence mediation in the fall.I am an advocate and ally to anyone who has experienced oppression. I have been active in the BLM movement since its inception and support the efforts of the LBGTQ community as they continue their struggle for equality and dignity. I believe that all people should have access to affordable mental health with a quality and qualified professional.I pride myself on my work with clients of color, LBGTQ, women, and other marginalized groups. I also work well with adults and teens on the autism spectrum. I interweave systems models of therapy into my work with not only couples and families, but also individuals, as our family, our roots, go with us wherever we go. My philosophy is that every human being deserves to be treated with dignity, respect, and compassion. I take a systems approach to therapy drawing upon the psychodynamic model, looking at the whole person or family in their respective stages of psychosocial individual or relational development.
