Congratulations on making the decision to investigate therapy.
While many investigate therapy as a means of personal growth and development, in my experience – this decision is often made in times of anxiety; relationship difficulty, personal indecision or discovery, family upset or the common presence of depression, anxiety or anger. No matter what brought you to this search, welcome, and I look forward to being your companion on the road to wholeness.
I serve the community that I live in, it’s many colors, faiths and identities. However I have a specific affinity for the following groups or areas of interest:
Fandom, Geek, and Gamer Culture
Popular culture, geek and nerd culture, Fandom have long exerted influence on our lives. In the last two decades many of these alt-cultures or niche communities have become more visible, and in many ways more vital to their members sense of self. As a proud ‘geek’ of many interests I understand how important it can be to find someone who is not going to pathologize the cos-play, post-con depression, or excitement of things that inspire and interest you.
The LGBTQI+ Community:
A both a member of the LGBTQI community, an a former organizer with 2 decades of social justice it is my privilege to direct Indigo Mental Health, as an open and affirming practice for those who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex and questioning. I have been serving the sex positive, ethically non-monogamous and queer communities for years, an was a founding member of an organization supporting at risk youth in the community.
The Sex Positive & Non Monogamous Communities
My practice serves both individuals, couples and families both queer and traditionally oriented, and I have experience working with parents and friends coping with the coming-out process of a loved one. As a certified sex educator and therapist I am also fully able to address issues of intimacy from a sex positive and kink aware approach.
I am developing therapeutic practices based on existing evidence based therapy to work with complex relationships that more traditional couples and family therapy are not currently designed to work with, including polyamory, open, ethically non-monogamous, ‘the lifestyle’ or swinger relationships and their families.
