Ian McNabb is an Associate MFT #122875 who graduated from Pacific Oaks College with a Masters’ Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. Ian has extensive knowledge of family systems, CBT, attachment theory, psychodynamic therapy, existential therapy, and narrative therapy. Ian’s past work experience includes working for a non-profit agency which served community-based and school-based clients. Ian has a passion for treating teens, young adults 20s-30s, couples, and the elderly. Ian has experience with treating Depression, Bipolar Disorder, various Anxiety Disorders, various Trauma-Related Disorders, and the LGBTQ community.Ian’s experience in the mental health profession has provided him with a set of skills to listen more attentively, empathize better, and communicate more effectively. Moreover, Ian has learned to appreciate how different life experiences and family systems affect how individuals perceive their lives and experiences.Ian chose to become a mental health professional because he really enjoys helping people, learning their stories, and helping people interpret their experiences. Ian looks forward to when clients have that kind of “a-ha” moment in session when something has clicked or some experience makes more sense to them. Ian finds it extremely rewarding to work as a professional therapist. Ian finds that every session offers a fresh challenge which requires a tremendous amount of focus, energy, and attention. In addition, Ian finds being a therapist rewarding, particularly as the client begins to show progress.
