Ginger Houghton
Clinical Social Worker/Therapist - LMSW, CAADC
I know how hard the change process is and that it requires bravery, patience, and a great partner. In 2005, I moved to Thailand to find new ways to manage anxiety and confront fears while living with monks, in farming villages, and out on the road. This experience was a catalyst for me; upon my return, I completed a Master’s Degree in Social Work to help others find change without having to uproot their lives.I’m the former Director of Behavioral Health at Jewish Family Service of Metropolitan Detroit, and I am passionate about offering creative and holistic approaches to help clients reach their goals more quickly. My client’s often comment that my wit, compassion and insight make it fun and easy to identify and change patterns of behavior and thought that are no longer serving them.I have specialized training in depression, anxiety, substance use, insomnia and chronic pain. I’m a Certified Advanced Addiction and Drug Counselor, with training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and certification in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I), Brainspotting and Flash EMDR.
