Francisca Lizana
Bilingual Psychotherapist and Expressive Arts Therapist - LMFT
My practice sees children and adults who seek support for a variety of reasons. I see children who are experiencing family changes/transitions, relocation/acculturation, behavioral challenges at home and/or school, who need social-emotional skills development, as well as support in overcoming trauma, depression, anxiety or navigating learning challenges, amongst others. Similarly, I see adults who seek a safe place to express, download and explore what is present, whether a life transition or change, hardships or simply not feeling happy.
Whilst I am humanistically trained and integrate echoing clinical practices, I am interested in the neuroscience of emotions and developing emotional literacy and social-emotional awareness through creative expression. I aim to foster emotional intelligence by learning and understanding feelings and emotions, how to manage them and how to self-care.
I am trained as an Expressive Arts therapist so engaging in the arts is always a choice. Having a wide palette of creative modalities such as drawing, painting, sculpting, moving/dance, acting, music, puppets, and sand tray, for example, assures there is always a choice of expression besides spoken word.
