Being a woman is a challenge. We play multiple roles and are expected to transition between them seamlessly and without complaint: Wife, businesswoman, parent, friend, daughter, sister, the list continues. Often, because we are pleasers, we bear the burden ourselves, convinced that if we voice the normal but troublesome thoughts we’re having we will be rejected or admonished: “parenthood is hard” “I feel like I need more help” “This isn’t the balance I want in life.” We lose our voices and with that comes things like anxiety, depression, feelings of failure, chronic pain and other symptoms. It doesn’t have to be this way.
While we can’t change the reality that life is chaotic, we can absolutely change the way you respond. We can work to lessen the feelings of being out of control and move you to a place of “I’ve got this.” We can work together to strengthen your stress management skills, bolster you as a person, and get you to where you are comfortable asserting your needs.
Collaboration is critical in therapy work- you and I are a team. You have a voice in the office. We work to gently make you accountable for where you are struggling and work to change behaviors so that you get what you need from your life, instead of life getting what it needs from you! Together we can cooperatively walk the path to the new reality you want.
