Emily Fisken
Psychotherapist -
I have familiarity guiding clients who are sensitive to their environments or individuals who are questioning their sexuality, gender and/or identity.
My counseling approach focuses on client-centered care, holistic mind and body-oriented orientations, and depth psychology. I have training in Hakomi Mindful Somatic Therapy, a holistic approach to processing trauma, attachment wounds, and other sources of stuckness. Additionally, I have been trained in deep imagination with the Animas Valley Institute.
My focus in studying transpersonal psychology and eastern philosophies, specifically those about the subtle body, has informed my counseling practice to integrate energy tracking and transformation. I have studied, experienced, and/or practiced a wide variety of energy healing modalities including Chakra Therapy, Reiki, Guided Imagery, Pranic Healing, acupuncture, Yoga, and meditation. Currently, I practice a unique blend of mind-body techniques to process or enliven emotional, physical, and spiritual energy.
If the world is, as I believe, animate and interconnected, then we cannot create health and well being for humans without doing the same for the natural world, and vice versa. It is in wilderness where I explore grief, loss, joy, and purpose for being. Although wilderness is commonly understood as “nature” or anything untouched by humans, wilderness also includes the human being’s innate wildness.
