Associate Marriage and Family Therapist -
I think therapy can help everyone. Whether you are struggling day in and day out; or if you are wanting to relieve minor stress. The life we all live is stressful, therefore having a third party to talk out life with can be helpful. Therapy can give you a different perspective. It can help you find alternative ways of thinking and adapting. We can not always have control over what is going on in our lives, but we can have control over our emotions. Therapy can be a way for you to learn how to control, express, and cope with those emotions.I think movement is beneficial to mental health. Therefore I am trying something different and offering therapy outside while walking. My client and I will meet at park and actually walk while doing therapy. This will help open up the clients mind. It will help the client be able to fight through stress and release endorphins. When your modeling healthy habits the mind and the body start to get on the same page. Walking is practicing self care while verbally processing what you the client are struggling with.
