Elizabeth McFarland
Licensed Professional Counselor -
I am licensed to practice in Tennessee as a Licensed Professional Counselor, Mental Health Service Provider. I specialize in treating identity and self-esteem issues as well as self-destructive and impulsive behaviors (especially disordered eating, binge eating and substance abuse). As a therapist, I work to empower individuals to build self-confidence and live a life that is fulfilling each day instead of looking only to future goals and plans for fulfillment. I assist clients in leveraging their strengths and harnessing their abilities to create their own solutions throughout treatment. While understanding where someone comes from can help them move forward, I believe that the most effective focus of treatment is on the present.I work to ensure that clients feel heard and I welcome clients into therapy with compassion, non-judgement, and authenticity. I aim to foster a collaborative relationship that leads to personal growth and empowerment. I’m not in charge, I’m not your boss, we are a team. I encourage feedback, assertiveness, and self-advocacy.I am a mom to a little girl and the wife of a disabled veteran. I moved to East Tennessee recently to be closer to family and have fallen in love with the community and natural beauty. I received my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of North Georgia. I have worked in a variety of settings including a private agency with in home services, community mental health, and a group practice seeing clients in a traditional office setting and via telehealth.
