Elizabeth Hill
Psychotherapist -
I believe everyone can benefit from therapy, regardless of age, ethnicity, type of addiction, and/or sexual/gender orientation. I have worked in the mental health/psychology field since 2000 and am passionate about helping individuals, families and couples achieve more functionality, wellness and insight. I have concentrated training/experience providing treatment to ethnic minorities, sexual minorities (LGBTQIA+), inmates, parolees, people with sexual compulsions/deviant sexual interests and people with personality disorders. I provide direct, yet compassionate feedback of a solution-oriented nature to help clients achieve goals.
I focus on family of origin and early attachments to help recognize patterns of relationship dysfunction in adulthood. Individual therapy techniques include DBT, CBT and healthy relationship skill-building. Skill building includes assertiveness training, conflict-resolution, overcoming chronic people pleasing and setting healthy boundaries with others.
I believe most of us come from backgrounds that have not taught us the skills we need to have healthy boundaries, assertive communication, to manage conflict resolution and/or the insight to recognize unhealthy relationship patterns. When working with people of color, I also examine messages internalized about skin color/shade, hair texture and body image.
