Dawn Palumbo-Madera
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, Certified Addictions Professional, and a National Board Certified Counselor providing services via telehealth from the state of Florida. The clinical approaches I use most are: cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and solution focused therapy. I have experience working with individuals struggling with a wide range of concerns including (but not limited to): self-harm, pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum depression, mood disorders, comorbidity, codependency, domestic violence, and alcohol/drug addiction.
My education has consistently been geared toward my goal of humbly understanding the human experience. My undergraduate (BS) degree in Behavioral Healthcare was completed at the University of South Florida. I gained my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Walden University and have been licensed as a Mental Health Counselor for the state of Florida since 2018. I am also a Florida Board Certified Addictions Professional and a National Board Certified Counselor .
I have worked in addiction/recovery settings (both residential and outpatient), in homeless shelters, methadone clinics, jails, and as a crisis interventionist going out with police to address crisis situations within the community. Prior to licensure I held over 14 years of human-service work experience. In all these capacities, I have been dedicated to creating and maintaining an atmosphere of respect and acceptance.
I am looking forward to working with you.
