My treatment philosophy is: how can I help you help yourself? My paramount concern is to help you learn to manage what you’re feeling or experiencing over time and across the situations of your life. Although self-defeating behaviors, uncontrollable moods, and dysregulated emotions may seem unpredictable and confusing, I believe all human behavior can be known and understood. We will work together to develop a functional understanding of both why you are stuck and what you can do to break free. Using the professional relationship formed over time, we can examine how to develop new behavior and skills to help you live a better and more fulfilling life.I work well with a range of problems across the adult lifespan and have a clinical interest in effective treatment of PTSD and serious mental illness, with experience effectively treating depression, anxiety, trauma and problems with life transitions. I am currently undergoing training in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Motivational Enhancement Strategies.Since completing my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Immaculata University, I am currently working toward licensure as a psychologist under the supervision of Dr. Hoolahan and Dr. Sell. My dissertation focused on phenomenologically looking at veterans’ experiences while in PsyD programs. As a Marine Corps veteran myself, I have an appreciation for the obstacles that other veterans may face, both at coping with challenges resulting from their service or those that arise through transitioning back to a civilian role.
