Chris Hargrove
Clinical Social Worker/Therapist, Certified Clinical Trauma Professional, Certified Clinical Supervisor - LCSW, CCTP, CCS
I believe that each individual already possesses the solutions to the challenges they face. My role as a counselor and a healer is to be a companion in the discovery of those solutions. I am a reliable guide with over 21 years of experience working with people of all ages.
I specialize in helping people during major life transitions, times of grief & loss, and with trauma recovery. During my 11 years in Hospice, I learned how to help people navigate the many challenges that come with grief and loss.
One of the hallmarks of my practice is the use of meditation as a tool for healing. As a long time meditator and meditation instructor, I love sharing meditative healing techniques with my clients. I am also certified by the International Association of Trauma Professionals as a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. From these two areas of expertise, I have developed a unique protocol for trauma recovery. Through this protocol, I empower my clients to erase their trauma imprints, both energetically and somatically, and be free.
The primary modalities I employ in my practice are Psychodynamic Therapy and Ego Supportive Psychology. Psychodynamic Therapy focuses on issues in our families of origin. It illuminates unconscious habituated behaviors learned early in life so that they may become available to the conscious mind for change. Ego Supportive Psychology embraces the inherent worth and dignity of each person. Unconditional positive regard for the client creates a safe space in which the wounded parts of the self can emerge and be transformed. I work collaboratively with each client to select the modalities best suited to their unique situation
From a young age, I have been drawn to the spiritual. I recall being fascinated when I discovered “The Prophet” by Kahlil Gibran on my mother’s bookshelf. This passion remained with me through my young life and developed into an experiential and academic exploration of the world’s wisdom traditions. I studied with a Cherokee medicine woman and spent five years in apprenticeship with a shaman. However, it wasn’t until I met the Indian saint Sri Kaleshwar that I found my true spiritual home.
I studied with Sri Kaleshwar intensively over the course of nine years at his ashram in Penukonda, India training in the ancient healing practices of a divine lineage of saints and received his certification as a Sai Shakti healer. Sai Shakti Healing involves energy transmissions to heal at the deepest level, the level of the soul. I continue these studies today at the Divine Lineage Healing Center in Laytonville, California. My training as a soul healer in the Sai Shakti channels informs all the work I do. As a result, soul level healing energies will be present in every healing encounter.
“The healing that Chris brought me made everything whole again, when it felt so so broken. It stopped the turmoil, the hurt, the feeling of spiraling out of control, and brought acceptance; it replaced the feeling of loss with joy and abundance.” E.C.
