You may feel like working with a mental health counselor means that you are weak, or that you need your hand held. You may even feel like struggling is “just how life works”. However, counseling is just a space where you can be heard without judgment and figure out new ways to live more authentically. There are so many messages that you’ve learned and felt growing up that don’t work for you anymore. The goal is to embrace life again in the moment, despite the negative messages we have been living by for most of our lives.
