For Couples: Do you love your partner but find the same negative pattern playing out when you try to communicate? Do you feel alone in your relationship, as if your partner doesn’t care about your feelings? For couples with concerns ranging from the desire to improve your connection to an “or else” situation, I primarily use Emotionally Focused Therapy to help you to enjoy more harmony and improved intimacy. LBGTQ couples welcome.
Discernment counseling is available for couples with one partner who wants out and is not ready or interested in couples counseling, and the other wants to work on it. In one to five sessions, I facilitate a decision between: 1) status quo – no change, 2) end the relationship, and 3) agree to engage in a period of counseling together, during which breaking up is off the table and can be re-visited at the end of the set time with new information.
For individuals, I specialize in several areas. Many issues are rooted in avoiding one’s own emotions, and is typically learned early in life. I can help with letting your feeling matter to yourself and others. I treat PTSD and treating trauma-related symptoms using EMDR and other evidence-based methods. For those struggling with OCD, I am trained in Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). I also specialize in grief, codependency, and substance use disorder/addiction. My practice is a LBGTQ safe space and LBGTQ affirmative. My experience includes issues common to transgender individuals transitioning while part of a couple.
