Bronwyn Shiffer
Clinical Social Worker/Therapist - LCSW, LICSW
Therapy is about getting your needs met. If you are feeling empty, I help you connect with yourself. If you look at a sunset and feel only a dull ache, I help you feel the emotions that are too scary to feel right now. If you can make everyone else feel amazing and end up feeling miserable yourself, I help you challenge the lies you have been taught about whose needs are most important.
Therapy might feel like untangling a ball of yarn: it’s all knotted up and in order to unravel it, all the individual pieces of string need to be carefully examined and pulled out. I love making connections and giving careful consideration to all the feelings that come up in therapy. I acknowledge that experiences and relationships have a strong influence on us and pay attention to the ways that systems of power and privilege play a role in well-being.
Our work is collaborative, and you are the expert of yourself. Together we examine your disappointments, desires, resentments and delights. Our time together will make space for longing, grief, curiosity, confusion, being stuck, not knowing, being surprised, connecting with yourself. What is not serving you will become more apparent and will fall away to leave more space for joy.
